The Prophecy, Linking Mask, Mind Device, Icarus & Looper | Craig & Ryland's Magic Review Show
Craig and Ryland give each product their own respective rating. If they like or dislike a product you will know. We aren't associated with any third party magic company. All of their opinions are strictly their own. Let's break down the five products and see what Craig and Ryland think of them.
The first product Craig & Ryland reviewed this week is The Prophecy by Roberto Giobbi. This is an incredible prediction routine featuring wallets that's super unique and take's full advantage of the heart's effect. Here's how the routine works: the magician shows their audience a wallet that is clearly open and emptied. It only contains a single envelope. Said envelope is placed back inside the wallet before it is given to the spectator for safekeeping. The audience member is free to select a card from an imaginary deck. The spectator opens their wallet and the magician opens the envelope. Inside the envelope is the exact prediction the audience member chose. It's an incredible routine that has since been performed as a Magic Live. Craig loved this product, giving it 100% while Ryland followed up with 119%.
Alex, Wenzi & MS Magic have decided to take advantage of the current situation by creating a magic trick featuring face masks. This takes the classic concept of Linking Ropes to the face mask, creating Linking Mask as a result. The magician will be able to link and unlike two or three masks as well as perform restoration and penetration effects. Critical reaction to this product was mixed. While Craig doesn't plan to use this trick for himself, it is a very well made gimmick and will last for a long time. The concept is good while the tutorial isn't well made. It all depends on what type of act you do. As a result, Craig awarded the Linking Mask 60%. Ryland was less impressed, giving this product 0%.
Julio Montoro is back with what he considers to be the finest peek device ever created. Introducing Mind Device. According to Penguin Magic, "Mind Device allows you to peek at anything your spectator has written on a business card. You will get a full view of the word or drawing, so you will only need to worry about the presentation. Julio Montoro has covered everything in the tutorial; from how to customize it, to multiple routines using different handlings explained." Craig and Ryland loved this product, awarding it 95% and 99% respectively. It's instantly resettable, no table need, can be used for walk-around, no angles and overall very clever.
Christian Grace has been making a big name for himself in the magic community. He is further adding to this with the introduction of Icarus. Ellusionist states, "A mid-air restoration of a torn playing card - that ends totally clean. Icarus is a trick only Christian Grace could create. An effortless display of insane visuals, but with a satisfying & practical method. As the broken pieces are thrust towards the table, they unite in mid-air to end as a completely clean, inspectable solid. It’s an effortless display of insane visuals but with a satisfying practical method. It’s fun - it’s fast and the restoration happens in mid-air - or as it lands in the spectator's hands." It's an incredible routine that does take a bit of practice to master, but it is fun to practice and it's durable, reusable and completely customizable. Craig and Ryland gave this product 95% and 100% respectively.
The last product Craig & Ryland looked at is Looper by Hunter. PropDog states, "LOOPER is a sleek, elegant and ordinary looking ring box that allows you to do miracles. The box does all the work. Essentially the same technology as a locking Himber wallet applied to a ring box. You can: Make a ring vanish, Make a ring appear, Two rings visually transpose, Ring visually shrinks and Ring visually grows to impossible locations and more!" There are several issues with this product. To begin with, Craig has sampled two versions that have both broken in a short time frame. The tutorial is way too short without any details, no routines, no live performances and it even included mistakes within the edit. The most unfortunate part about Looper is if there was more care and attention to detail, this product could have been good. Craig gave Looper -1000% while Ryland followed up with -Infinity%. It's not good at all.
And that's everything for this week's show. Craig & Ryland got to review some amazing products while others were not quite up to standard. You can find the full Magic Review Show below. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
